OLUWATOYIN GLENROY

Self-taught Botanist & Retired Sailor / 37

Born in Jamaica, Mr Oluwatoyin Glenroy voluntarily enlisted in the British Royal Navy when he was 21. During his tenure, he became firm friends with Mr Callahan Skinner. Retiring from the Navy to seek better living conditions and pursue his passion for botany, he did whatever work he could to survive, including manual labour at London’s docks and domestic servitude as a footman. He currently works as a stable hand at the livery where the Bow Street Society stable their horse and cab. As a consequence, he counts the cabman Mr Samuel Snyder amongst his friends. During Society investigations, Mr Glenroy will draw upon his knowledge of plants and seeds that he has acquired by studying botany books at the public library. He’s also a regular visitor to Covent Garden Market and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, London.
