I purchased two signed books on the day: The Planting of the Penny Hedge by Chris A. Turnbull and Hunter’s Chase by Val Penny. KD Sherrinford kindly gifted me a signed copy of the first in her Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler series, Song for Someone, in exchange for my gifting her a signed copy of The Case of the Curious Client. I then won Hunter’s Force by Val Penny and A Touch of Heaven by Melody Mode in the charity raffle. A Touch of Heaven is not in my usual go-to genre, but I am going to add it to the TBR pile, as I enjoy discovering new authors and genres.

This event was the first I wore my new bustle dress to, and I was chuffed to receive so many compliments and comments about it from fellow authors and readers alike. I was a little warm in the dress (the material is not very forgiving), but my handy little fan helped to keep me cool. The event organisers also provided us with free water, cold drinks, and refreshments throughout the day.

BOW STREET SOCIETY AT BOOKS ON THE BEACH - BLACKPOOL

A massive thank you to Lizzie James and her fellow organisers, the small army of volunteers who helped on the day, my fellow authors for making us feel so welcome, and, of course, the readers who made it such a brilliant day. I cannot wait to see you at the next one!

This year’s Books on the Beach was the second I had attended and was the last for 2024. To view the book signing events I will be at in 2025, please visit my Book signing Events page here. Discussions are already happening about the next Books on the Beach event. Whether you are an author looking for your first (or next) event, or a reader who enjoys meeting new authors (as well as your favourites) face to face, Books on the Beach is for you. I cannot recommend this event enough.

On Saturday 17th August 2024 I went to the Books on the Beach – Blackpool book signing event as an officially attending author. I was there with the Bow Street Society stand and my good friend, Karen, who was not only my assistant on the day but who drove us from Milton Keynes to Blackpool on the Friday. It took us 6 hours, on top of the 1 hour drive she did to reach Milton Keynes from her home. Therefore, I am super grateful to her for getting me to Blackpool in the first place!

We had a fantastic day at the Books on the Beach event. It was very well organised, highly professional, and an enjoyable experience for everyone I spoke to, as well as me and Karen. I met fans of the Bow Street Society, as well as some new readers. A selection of my highlights was seeing a long-time fan wearing a Bow Street Society t-shirt, and meeting another fan who had binge read all six books to date and could not wait for the seventh.
