NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS:
A Few Words from T.G. Campbell
2023 was an incredibly difficult year for me for many reasons. Somehow, I managed to write and publish the sixth volume of the Bow Street Society Casebook, The Case of the Scream in the Smog & Other Stories. I’m very proud of this instalment as I put a lot of research into the background of the stories. It’s also proven to be my most popular title during its first week of release to date. With the new year comes a new start and I have several goals I’d like to achieve in 2024.
Bow Street Society Mystery 7
I’m making good progress on this, and my plan is to release it before the end of the year. I did a lot of work on the series bible in 2023 and completed my background research for book 7 at the same time. Therefore, I have confidence in the story I’m currently writing, and a clear idea of how the rest of the series will develop. The characters may have other ideas but, for the moment, I’m excited for what I have planned.
The Case of the Curious Client Audio Book
Due to my various personal problems in 2023 this was put on hold. I’ve recently had a discussion with the voice actors involved and I have agreed a plan with a new narrator. Despite the best will in the world, my voice isn’t suitable for narrating an entire audio book. I intend to read the ‘Notes from the author,’ section, though. Currently, there is no release date for the audio book, but I will keep you informed on its progress as and when I can.
Creating new content for the Bow Street Society YouTube channel
I would like to create ambient readings of the prologue and chapter one of The Case of the Pugilist Ploy, and The Case of the Scream in the Smog for the YouTube channel. I’m aware it’s been a long time since I uploaded any new content and wanted to get back into it as soon as possible.
Streaming on Twitch
Aside from writing book 7 and getting The Case of the Curious Client audio book recorded, my biggest project of 2024 is to start streaming on the gaming platform Twitch. I have many wonderful friends on there and I’m keen to connect with more through our shared love of gaming. My plan is to explore crime fiction through the mediums of video games and writing. I want to play games such as Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper and Agatha Christie’s ABC Murders, as well as doing some writing streams where I work on new Bow Street Society Casebook stories. The great thing about Twitch is the instant interaction between chatter and streamer. I’m currently working on the technical side of my set-up and hope to have some news about my first stream by the second half of the year. Additional updates
Bow Street Society Casebook
I now have a full-time job that limits the time I can spend on my writing and other projects. As it’s been over a year since the release of book six in the Bow Street Society Mystery series, I think writing and releasing book 7 should be my main priority. With this in mind, I will not be releasing any Bow Street Society Casebook short stories this year, either in the Gaslight Gazette or in a December collection. I will be finding and plotting ideas for future stories, though, so this isn’t the end of the series.
The Case of the Curious Client in the Top 20 of the BooksOffice.com Next Killer Crime TV Drama
This remains ongoing, and I will provide updates as and when I can.
Thank you for your support and encouragement in 2023, it really helped me to get through the tough times. I’m excited about 2024, and hope we can achieve some amazing things together.
