It’s almost the end of 2024 and, like many others reading this, I can’t quite comprehend where the last eleven months have gone. In January’s blog, I set out the goals I wanted to achieve this year. Therefore, I thought it would be nice to end the year with a look back on those goals and give further updates on where I’m at with everything.

Bow Street Society Mystery 7

Aim: Finish and release by the end of 2024.
Current status: Ongoing
At the time of writing this, the main draft of mystery 7 is with my team of beta readers who I’ve asked to provide feedback on the book’s various elements, such as characterisation, plot, etc. I decided not to rush through this process for the sake of getting the book out by Christmas as I wanted to ensure the final draft is as good as it can be (especially as you’ve waited two years for it at this point). The new plan is to release mystery 7 by the end of January 2025 (so not much later than my original aim).

The Case of the Curious Client Audio Book

Aim: Undefined.
Current status: Ongoing
The entire narration element of the book has now been recorded. I’m still working with my voice actors to get the remaining character dialogue recorded. As in January, there is no release date for this project at the moment. I’m very much looking forward to getting closer to this point in 2025, though. I’ll also be working with the narrator to get the narration of The Case of the Lonesome Lushington (and possibly The Case of the Spectral Shot) recorded by the end of 2025.

Creating new content for the Bow Street Society YouTube channel

Aim: Create ambient readings of the prologue and chapter one of The Case of the Pugilist Ploy, and the entirety of The Case of the Scream in the Smog.
Current Status: Ongoing.
There are several reasons why this hasn’t been done yet, but the main one is I wanted to get mystery 7 finished above anything else. Creating the ambient readings are still on my to-do list. I’m also considering relaunching the Bow Street Society Podcast in 2025 but in a daily or weekly diary format.

Streaming on Twitch

Aim: Start streaming on Twitch before the end of 2024.
Current Status: Ongoing
Progress has been made in the form of upgrading my gaming console from a PS2 to a PS5. I’ve also created and added panels to my Twitch channel in preparation for streaming. As with everything else this year, though, this goal had to take a backseat to allow me to finish mystery 7. My aim for 2025 is to start streaming at least once a week but fitting it around the writing of mystery 8.

Updates on the additional goals

Bow Street Society Casebook

This subseries was put on hold in 2024 as I was working full time and, again, making the completion of mystery 7 my main priority. Since October, though, I’ve been working part-time, again. This has given me more time to return to the Bow Street Society Casebook series and I’m delighted to say the serialisation of brand-new short stories will return to the Gaslight Gazette from January 2025. The first story will be The Case of the Cavalier’s Chair, so be sure to subscribe to the newsletter this month if you’d like to be one of the first to read part one.

The Case of the Curious Client in the Top 20 of the BooksOffice.com Next Killer Crime TV Drama
This remains ongoing, and I will provide updates as and when I can.

What to look out for in 2025

Bow Street Society Mystery 8 & Bow Street Society Casebook Volume 7
My main aim for 2025 is to return to my usual schedule of releasing 1 x novel and 1 x short story collection per year. With this in mind, I plan to write and release the eighth Bow Street Society mystery by December 2025. At the same time, three brand new Bow Street Society Casebook short stories will be serialised in the Gaslight Gazette throughout the year. Two further stories will then be added and all five will be released as Bow Street Society Casebook Volume 7 in December 2025.

Book signing Events
I’ll be going to a total of three book signing events as an attending author in 2025. Visit the Book signing Events page for more information, including how to book your tickets.

More book reviews on my Goodreads blog
In the past couple of months, I’ve increased my reading and I’m steadily getting through my TBR pile. I put all reviews on my Goodreads blog and track my progress of the books I’m currently reading. If you’re interested in what I’m reading, be sure to follow me on Goodreads here: https://www.goodreads.com/tg_campbell

Thank you for your support and encouragement in 2024. I’m excited about 2025 and hope we can achieve some amazing things together. Have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!
